Before 2014 ends, one Korean film in particular is giving all-out efforts to draw in as many last minute movie-goers as possible. "Ode To My Father", starring Hwang Jung-min, has already reached the 4.5 million view-mark.
According to the Korean Film Council, "Ode To My Father" attracted 282,174 viewers on December 29th alone. That brings up the total count to about 4.5 million in a mere 12 days. That means the movie hit the four million view-mark four days faster than the hit movie "Masquerade", which eventually went on to attract 12,323,408 movie goers.
The movie has already broken the record for the highest opening score for a movie in the drama category. It is currently number one at the box office.
"Ode To My Father" is about this generation's fathers who sacrificed everything to offer their families the best lives possible. It stars Hwang Jung-min, Kim Yun-jin, and Oh Dal-su.

[Poll] Which Idol Born in the Year of the Sheep Will Dominate 2015? (Round 1, Bracket 1)
2014 has finally come to an end, and we′re only looking forward.
According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, 2015 is the Year of the Sheep. With so many idols born in this specific animal sign, we want you to help us predict which star will dominate 2015 as we start fresh in the new year.
It was tough, but we whittled the list down to 20 idols. The winner will be determined tournament style, which means only the Top 1 idol group member in each bracket will move onto the next round, so choose wisely.
Happiest New Year!
EXO′s Su Ho
Following a very busy year with album promotions, concert tours, and more, EXO′s Su Ho has gracefully led the team to the end of 2014.
With EXO looking forward to a comeback in early 2015, Su Ho′s role as leader will be an important one.
Also, since Su Ho already dipped his foot into acting in 2014, perhaps 2015 will be the year he shines as an actor as well.
Infinite′s Hoya
Infinite′s Hoya kept very busy with his members in 2014, touring around the world, promoting albums and even releasing a movie.
2015 is sure to bring amazing things for Hoya, especially with the return of Infinite H, and hopefully another acting gig, since we would love to see Hoya as an actor again!
After School′s Nana
Although After School was not in session for most of 2014, that didn′t stop Nana from being active.
Nana faithfully carried out the silly but unique concepts of Orange Caramel on more than one occasion, got named as one of the most beautiful women of the world, sang for a popular drama, hosted a show on fashion with good-looking co-hosts, and finally moved in with the bestest roommates one could ever find.
2014 may be ending, but this is just beginning for Nana as she′s been cast in a new drama in China that′s scheduled to premiere in 2015.
SNSD′s Seohyun
Going from SNSD to Taetiseo to S.E.S, the youngest member of Seohyun stayed on her toes with so many activities in the past year.
2015 will be no different as Seohyun will be powering thorugh as the lead Scarlett O′Hara in her new musical Gone with the Wind.
We′re pretty sure this is only the beginning with much, much more in store for Seohyun.
Shinhwa′s Lee Min Woo
A slightly seasoned sheep, Shinhwa′s Lee Min Woo, who was also born in the Year of the Sheep, is ready to take on 2015.
In 2014, Lee Min Woo successfully celebrated his 10th anniversary as a soloist releasing albums and hopping around from city to city for his concert tour.
With much planned for Shinhwa′s upcoming activities, Lee Min Woo, as the co-CEO of Shincom Entertainment, is working extra hard to make 2015 a year that Shinhwa fans will never forget.

K-Pop Crossover: John Paul Ouvrier Of John Paul And Linda Is 'Blown Away By The Raw Talent' Of K-Pop Performers [EXCLUSIVE]
Composer, producer and actor John Paul Ouvrier is one half of the duo John Paul and Linda, who claim to be the first Indonesian-American singing group to perform for an Indonesian presidential candidate after playing "From Indonesia With Love," at a campaign rally for Prabowo Subianto in 2013.
Like Us on Facebook
Since then, Ouvrier wrote and produced the pilot for a "Twilight Zone"-styled series called "Cult 11." He also acted in and composed the music for the upcoming martial arts comedy "The Dream," for director Jennifer Linch.
Earlier this week, in an exclusive interview with KpopStarz, the producer-actor-composer spoke about the need for Hallyu artists to become mainstream in America.
Ouvrier admits that he "only started following K-pop earlier this year," but claims he was "blown away by the raw talent and experimentation that the artists have."
"These kids are pushing the boundaries, and it's a blessing that K-pop showcases them," Ouvrier added.
"Mark my words, the sounds and structural evolutions from the artists here will change the way we know pop," he continued.
He believes that change is because of the hard work Hallyu artists put into their productions.
"As a writer of both music and lyrics, I sweat the smallest details of my productions and I get inspired when I see the K-pop artists doing this," Ouvrier said. "Sometimes mainstream American pop plays it too safe and producers copy the artist before. I don't play that way and neither do most of the artists I see in K-pop."
This is why he is drawn to the newly-formed three-piece K-pop girl group Bebop.
"I like Bebop right now, they are so amazing with their ideas," Ouvrier said.
"They follow their gut for an idea, into full song development and they play their own instruments. Kudos to them."
The actor-producer believes Bebop also pay attention to artistic detail in their music videos.
"The classical opening in 'I'm the Best,' introducing the band and then flipping into another style all together is amazing," Ouvrier said. "And the black and white slap with red blood shots are a nice bit of film-making," he explained.
And he doesn't have a problem with not speaking Korean.
"When an artist is true to their heart, when they write or sing or perform, I am your biggest fan," Ouvrier said. "I cry when you cry, smile when you do, get excited. The language doesn't matter. Music is the language that unites us all."
"This is not an uneducated audience," he added. "K-pop followers are sophisticated...the music is fantastic. I feel that the biggest problem is that second-rate American bands who know how to market their music are getting the attention, because they know how the US markets work."
To break in the States, Ouvrier urged Hallyu artists to "spend some time everyday marketing in areas you're not comfortable with until you're mainstream."
"That's the business side of the music business," he said. "You've heard that before, now hear it from an American producer."
But the music industry veteran does believe the fight to get their music heard in the West is worth it for Hallyu artists
"Believe it or not, over here, we are longing for something new and original," he said. "K-pop artists, we need you, desperately."

Korean Rock Recall: The Excess and Ecstasy Of Metal Band Dionysus's 1989 Instrumental 'Legend of Darkness' [AUDIO]
Dionysus is the Greek god of excess and ecstasy, of fertility and wine. He's the good time god.
Dionysus was also a short-lived neoclassical metal band from Korea. They produced two albums of kick-ass, powerful music as the '80s came to a close.
Like Us on Facebook
According to popular belief, one can't indulge in Dionysian extremes at all times, but apparently no one told that to Dionysus.
On their instrumental classic "Legend of Darkness," the band seems to pursue extremes only, resulting in a satisfying sort of indulgence. Their music abandons good taste in favor of great musicianship and succeeds out of sheer commitment, in the process.
"Legend of Darkness" comes to us by way of Dionysus's 1989 debut album of the same name. Released through an otherwise completely obscure record company, Jave, Dionysus would later release their follow-up, "Excalibur," on Seo Ra Bul, the label that brought us Baekdoosan and Sinawe.
What sets Dionysus aside from those other monsters of hair metal is their insistence on reaching for the twin brass rings of technical precision and flamboyant ornamentation.
"Legend of Darkness" is a prime example of this drive.
Of course, Dionysus couldn't allow the title track of their album to begin without an excessively dramatic pipe organ intro. As cornball as it gets, the pomp and circumstance somehow seems apt here. Commitment counts a lot!
The baroque madness of the "Prelude" doesn't take up too much of our time before introducing the wanton riffing of "Legend of Darkness." Pinch harmonics and double kick drum give us an idea of who we're dealing with--professional rock 'n roll musicians, that's who.
Guitarist Bae Jae Beom is emblematic of Dionysus' unfettered preference for excess.
His guitars are needlessly overdubbed in high and low octaves and nearly every turnaround in the music is festooned with wild, sweeping arpeggios. This sort of outrageous shred has a precedent in the music of Yngwie Malmsteen, the Swedish virtuoso who hoped to be the Vivaldi of the electric guitar.
Of course, the sort of skills required for shredding of this nature are mostly mechanical, which is why YouTube is an overflowing treasury of single-digit aged children keeping pace with the best of them. What musicians choose to do with these skills is what's important. King Crimson's Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp dedicated themselves to artful subtlty; gunslingers like Yngwie and Bae Jae Beom went in the other direction. Both choices are valid.
Dionysus, and other neoclassical metal acts of their nature, represent a hot shit yang to King Crimson's understated yin. Their music is a celebration of human potential, bursting with the insistence that they can seemingly play anything.
The backing musicians on "Legend of Darkness" exist in order to support the musical insanity and they do so, excellently. Drummer Yu Weon Seok chokes cymbals at all the right downbeats and bassist Bak Oh Shik even gets a few fills in there, when Bae isn't hogging the limelight. The grandiose musical motifs of "Legend of Darkness" only serve to underscore this victory of dexterity.
Self-indulgent? Absolutely. Effective? Very much so.
The group's refusal to let up and allow for any sort of reflective moments in the music is wholly appropriate in this context. As "Legend of Darkness" comes to a close, the listener is swept up in a torrent of guitar madness along with the performers.
It's not a bad feeling.
