What's Up This Week With... F(x)(Jan 27-31)

They were both looking rather cute and natural together, with their arms wrapped around each other, taking one great shot after the next. The brand marketing director stated honestly why he thought the two would be a good fit for the shoot, "In order to raise awareness of 'Puma's unique color to young consumers, Krystal and Ahn Jae Hyun have been chosen as the brand models. Through [their promotion of] Puma's various campaigns and modeling of products, we anticipate a synergy effect."

While Krystal sports the look that she is known and loved for, Victoria commits to her role on Cocoon Town Romance and faces an extreme make over by cutting her hair drastically short. She took a cute selfie of herself showing off the new do framed by two peace signs. It's definitely new and not something that the fans will get used to seeing as Victoria has always had long hair, but she can definitely rock the cut.

Sulli and Krystal wishes everyone a happy sweet new year from Etude. They also let everyone know to look forward to the new line of lip products that Etude will be bringing out soon and that they have just finished filming for the line!

Krystal has been showing up in a lot in magazines and with good reason. Another photo shoot of the idol took place in The Celebrity, in which she took on a very casual, relaxed feel. The idol donned simple outfits that spoke more of her style and posed effortlessly. In the variety of pictures, we see Krystal show a more care free side of herself, something more appropriate for her age. We see her sitting by the stairs or lying on her stomach on the couch, seemingly at ease. She even graced the magazine with an interview, speaking about her plans for the future and her likes.

G-Dragon has made the transition from hip hop to global icon.

G-Dragon stands apart from many other artists in Korean pop music due to his concepts which are constantly evolving. As he continues develop into a more distinct solo artist, G-Dragon has began to draw comparisons from critics to the late David Bowie and the late Michael Jackson for possessing a fashion identity as individualistic as his music. G-Dragon has gained the attention of many within the enclosed fashion commentary community and captured the attention of hipster music critics. Those critics who normally view the splashy visuals of K-Pop as contrived are welcoming of his risk-taking image. G-Dragon did not emerge on the K-Pop scene with a readily established style persona. It is his journey towards becoming one of Korea's most fashion-forward artists that has placed G-Dragon on the path towards international stardom.

When Big Bang made their debut in 2006, G-Dragon's style was not unique from other artists. As the leader of Big Bang, he maintained a fresh-faced and boyish appeal which won fans over.

G-Dragon's concept was once 'boy-next-door' turns hip-hop.

G-Dragon slowly evolved from the hip hop concept that was consistent with the group into an enigmatic pop star. Following great success in 2007 and 2008, G-Dragon focused on a solo release with 2009's Heartbreaker. The concept behind Heartbreaker deliver G-Dragon into the haute couture image he is now synonymous with.

While Heartbreaker was like a journey through Alice's looking glass, the 2010 sub-unit project of GD&TOP presented a futuristic version of G-Dragon's old hip hop persona.

Big Bang's 2012 release Fantastic Baby remains one of the most watched K-Pop videos on YouTube and with good reason. The video is one of the most dynamic in the industry, with Big Bang appearing as the leader who is facing opposition from various aspects of Korean media and society. His otherworldly appearance in the video translated to live performances which maintained the concept.

In 2012, G-Dragon made a solo comeback with the EP One of a Kind. The concept behind the comeback featured an image that referenced 1990s American hip hop.

While the fashions featured in One of a Kind were whimsical, the most interesting fashions were featured in the music video for Crayon. Crayon exhibited a psychedelic, cartoon-like concept that helped to further define G-Dragon as a solo artist.

G-Dragon won 'Album of the Year' at 2013's 'Seoul Music Awards'.

One of G-Dragon's biggest fashion risks in recent years was made during in January 2013 during the Seoul Music Awards. While there is mutual admiration between the idol and designer Thom Browne, the sea-faring plaid meets rugby player wardrobe that was utilized to style Big Bang was definitely the focus of fashion criticism. The wardrobe was from Thom Browne's Spring/Summer 2013 menswear line and was best worn by G-Dragon, as well as Taeyang.

G-Dragon's Coup D'Etat has served not only as a turning point for the artist musically, but in terms of his fashion. To promote the album, G-Dragon maintained a very consistent pop and rock idol image. As he prepares for the release of Big Bang's summer comeback album, G-Dragon has the opportunity to reinvent himself, once again. Will the most revolutionary artist in Korean entertainment transition to even more futuristic music than dubstep? Can G-Dragon achieve global domination to reach the level of fame held by artists such as Justin Timberlake? Only time and the impending Big Bang comeback will tell.

Dohee and B1A4′s Baro Reenact Popular Sunrise Kiss Scene from “Reply 1994″

“Reply 1994‘s” Dohee and B1A4‘s Baro appeared on the the special SBS Lunar New Year program “Faceoff” and did a cute reenactment of the well known sunrise kiss scene from “Reply 1994.” The scene reenactment had a romantic feel, and was accurately done with the Busan dialect. However, the two stars did not share a kiss as Dohee turns away from Baro.

Dohee and Baro dressed appropriately in their retro hip hop fashion clothes for their appearance on “Faceoff.” They match each other well with the backward hats and over sized shirts. You can watch their scene reenactment here.

You can watch Dohee and B1A4′s Baro dancing to Seo Taiji and Boys in the clip below. Dohee’s character in “Reply 1994″ was a big fan of the popular 90′s group.

Kim Jang Hoon and Crayon Pop Releases a Fun and Energetic MV for “HERO”

January 31, 2014

Rock ballad singer Kim Jang Hoon and Crayon Pop have released the music video for their project single “HERO.”

The song is an upbeat pop track dedicated to firefighters who are unsung heroes in society. As expected from Crayon Pop, they are energetically dancing throughout the video while wearing bright red outfits.

Set for release on February 5, the proceeds of the single will go towards scholarships and donations to families and children of firefighters who have passed away.

G-Dragon′s Rocks a Skirt, Heels and Zebra Print

Big Bang’s G-Dragon’s backpack has been increasing in popularity.

The Big Bang member was selected to model for J.ESTINA and shot photos dressed in a skirt and heels. The zebra patterned backpack that he wore in the photo has especially been showing signs of hit, as inquiries have been made from not only in Korea but from overseas as well.

A J.ESTINA rep said, “As soon as the photos were released on online, bus shelters and magazines, numerous inquiries have been made about his style. We’ve been getting non-stop orders for the zebra backpack, especially from the foreigners visiting Korea.

Han Hyo Joo and Kim Woo Bin Celebrate Lunar New Year Overseas

The Lunar New Year is a time when Koreans go back to their home town to celebrate the holidays with their families. However, two stars will celebrate this Lunar New Year abroad due to their busy schedules.

Actress Han Hyo Joo is currently in Japan filming for her upcoming Japanese movie “Miracle Debikuro’s Love and Magic.” She will stay in Japan until the end of February to concentrate on her movie.

Kim Woo Bin from the movie “Friend 2” and the drama “The Heirs” will be spending the Lunar New Year in L.A. this year where he currently has a photo shoot. The star left for L.A. on January 28 and will return to Korea on Febraury 3. He will be preparing for his upcoming movie “The Technicians” when he returns to Korea.

Heechul Gets Excited Over Disney’s “Frozen”

Heechul of Super Junior has joined the extensive list of people, who have been charmed by Disney‘s latest movie “Frozen.”

On January 31, the idol wrote on his Instagram, “Kids, spend a joyful Lunar New Year. Always stay healthy, and be nice to your parents. Even though you’re unsatisfied with the amount of pocket money you got, control your facial expression,” and wished his fans a Happy Lunar New Year.

“Oppa wants to introduce his wife to the parents as well, but Anna won’t come out of the screen. Sorry for the ad-lib. I should give a trophy to the person who edited this photo. But I don’t like my expression. My pride is hurt, because only I look excited,” he added and shared a photo edited by his fan. Those who are following him on Instagram might already know, but Heechul has been posting several photos of Anna over the past few days, revealing his love for the main character of “Frozen.”

In the picture, Heechul is smiling brightly while facing Anna. Seems like he got all excited thanks to the surprisingly realistic photo!

Kang Min Kyung Reveals Her Secret to Beautiful Skin and Body

Kang Min Kyung of Davichi recently shared her beauty-related tips and tricks.

On January 31, the beautiful singer was a guest on KBS2TV’s Lunar New Year’s food program titled “God of the Dinner Table.” Shin Dong Yup, Park Eun Hye, Minah of Girl’s Day, Kim Shin Young, and others also appeared on the show.

Surprising everyone with her unique choice, Kang Min Kyung confessed, “My health food is pig skin. Pig skin is good for your skin, it is good when on a diet, and it has a nice taste as well,” and explained how she likes to enjoy it, “It tastes good when you dip it to bean powder.”

Hearing this, Minah shared her experience, “I don’t have a specific health food that I eat often, but I have tasted an uncommon health food. I have eaten rabbit stew. I thought it was duck stew, and ate it, but turned out it was rabbit stew.”

[Interview] Lee Jong Suk Talks About His Relationship with Park Bo Young, Kim Young Kwang and Kim Woo Bin

Lee Jong Suk talked about his recent experience of working side by side with stars his age.

About co-starring with Park Bo Young, Kim Young Kwang and others in Hot Young Bloods, Lee Jong Suk said, “There weren’t that many scenes where we filmed together. I tried to get close to them, but it wasn’t easy. But I think we got closer during promotional activities rather than during filming.”

In the movie, Lee Jong Suk acted as a high school Casanova, Joong Gil, and Park Bo Young acted as the school gangster Young Sook. As Kim Young Kwang and Lee Se Young are also around the same age as him, one might expect the filming site to have been full of cheeriness and laughter.

But Lee Jong Suk said, that as an actor, the filming site was just a workplace, and that he actually learned more from others rather than building new friendships.

So I was hoping that we could be friends, instead of being oppa and dongseng, but I think I was too hasty about getting close to her. I played a joke of sticking my finger in her nose, which messed everything up,” said Lee Jong Suk with a sigh, causing a round of laughter.

About Kim Young Kwang, who was also a model, Lee Jong Suk said, “I wasn’t very close to Young Kwang when I was a model, we would just say hello to each other and pass by. But while filming, I realized that he’s a good person. He reached out to me first calling me by my name, so I felt like he was really like my brother.”

Even though he is unrelated to Lee Jong Suk’s new movie, questions related to Kim Woo Bin are always a favorite with Lee Jong Suk, and vise versa.

“Are you going to release my article with his name in the title again?” asked Lee Jong Suk jokingly, before adding, “He is a very good natured person. The more I get to know him, the more I think, dare I say, that he received proper upbringing from his parents.”

“He texted me just this morning, about how he’s filming a commercial with Lee Na Young, so I asked him if he got her autograph, but he replied, ‘Oh, right. You’re Lee Na Young’s fan. Did I have to get her autograph? So I swore at him,” said the actor.

Expressing his humbleness, the actor also stated that he likes acting with older and more experienced senior actors over those who are his age, because he has much to learn from them.

He said, “When I was filming Face Reader, just being at the filming site allowed me to learn so much. I would try to say my lines so people think they sounded natural, but the senior actors literally ‘played’ with their lines. It was a shocking experience for me, and I still cannot forget.”

Min Reveals Her Feelings on Resembling Comedian Kim Hyun Sook

Min recently opened up about being the only miss A member often compared to a female comedian.

The idol was a guest on KBS2TV’s “Happy Together” on January 30. While discussing the topic, MC Yoo Jae Suk asked Min to share who miss A members are often compared to, looks-wise.

Min revealed, “After our debut, there was a time when a photo of people resembling miss A members became an issue,” and explained, “Suzy was compared to Kim Sa Rang, Fei was placed next to Kim Ah Joong, Ivy, and Park Ji Yoon. But next to me was a photo of Chulsandra [Kim Hyun Sook's character on 'Gag Concert']. I got a bit startled when I saw it,” she laughed.

As Kim Hyun Sook was also a guest on the show that night, Min added, “I really wanted to see her after that.” When asked if she now thinks they resemble each other, the idol could not help but nod while giggling, as she agreed on the similarities between her and the comedian.

[Interview] Son Ho Jun Is Not Hasty About Leaving His ‘Reply 1994’ Image Behind

Son Ho Jun opened up to share his thoughts about his role in the drama Reply 1994.

In the recently ended tvN drama Reply 1994, Son Ho Jung acted as ‘Haitai,’ leaving a firm impression on the viewers.

In a recent interview with Newsen, he revealed, “I am not hasty about leaving ‘Haitai behind.’”

Son Ho Jun said, “I don’t have the intention to change my image or to show a different side of me quickly. It’s up to the viewers to decide how they will see me. If I say ‘I’m not Haitai,’ when they see me as ‘Haitai,’ that makes no sense.”

Instead of trying to move away from ‘Haitai,’ Son Ho Jun decided to work hard with given roles.

“I don’t pressure myself to take a role that has bigger impact than ‘Haitai.’ But since I’m an actor, I do think I should work hard with whatever role that I’m given. If I continue doing that, I’m sure some people will like another character more than ‘Haitai,’” he said.

Then he added, “But I’m sure there will always be people who think ‘Ho Jun is Haitai’ and that’s fine. That’s their freedom. I will not worry about changing their views of me.”

The project that he’s currently working on is the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

I have a lot of respect for the people who do musicals. The short time I prepared for the musical was not enough and I’m worried that I will cause disadvantages for the others.”

“As of now, I’ve been trying to focus on not making mistakes on the dance or songs,” he continued. “I want to be able to pull off the basics and not make mistakes. I’ve really wanted to do musicals, but I think in the future I should better prepare myself before jumping into it.”

Siwon Chosen as Most Handsome Male Idol, Followed by T.O.P, Nichkhun and Others

Super Junior‘s representative heartthrob Siwon has been chosen as the male idol with the best looks.

The list was revealed on MNet’s new chart show titled “Super Idol Chart Show,” which aired on January 31. The handsome idol recently placed seventh on The Independent Critics “100 Most Handsome Faces of 2013” list, and has now topped the domestic chart, leaving behind many charismatic faces.

Fellow Super Junior member Ryeowook commented, “I didn’t know Siwon was such a great person. I feel very good, as he is our group member,” and shared his joy. He then gave a sudden call to the lucky guy himself.

Siwon picked up the phone and joked, “Seeing you call me made me sweat for a moment.” Soon it was time for Beast‘s Dongwoon to share the good news, and he explained to the senior, “We are filming ‘Super Idol Chart Show’ from today. You were chosen as the idol with best looks.”

Hearing this, Siwon humbly said, “Thank you. There are many people much more handsome than me, so I am thankful,” and evoke laughter as he continued, “To give you some advice, be careful with Ryeowook. He is a scary person.” Immediately, Ryeowook said to him, “I love you,” but Siwon continued to joke, “Scary, don’t do that.”

When asked to hold a short speech, the handsome star said, “Everyone, thank you very much. Please make 2014 a good year as well. Please be healthy, and I hope your year will be filled with happiness.”

Brown Eyed Girls’ Ga In Performs with Her Doppelganger, Stuns Crowd with Their Likeness

Brown Eyed Girls’ member Ga In and her doppelganger recently surprised everyone with their striking similarity.

On January 30, the duo performed as “Yong In and Ga In” along with the rest of the Brown Eyed Girls members on MBC’s “Star Look-Alike.”

The duo hatched a brilliant plan to create an unexpected twist to Brown Eyed Girls’ performance that day. Yong In performed with the other Brown Eyed Girls members in place of Ga In for “Abracadabra,” unbeknownst to everyone in the audience. Only when Yong In was performing her solo part, did Ga In suddenly join her on stage and surprised everyone.

Girl’s Day’s Hyeri Reveals Her Cute Niece

As Lunar New Years is an important holiday for Korea, it’s hard not to have at least one photo of a celebrity hanging out with family.

On January 31, Girl’s Day’s Hyeri tweeted a photo along with the message, “It’s been a while since I’ve last met Hye Bin~ Besides Hye Bin I have ten other nieces and nephews.. keke. Everyone please grow up well~ And everyone please have a good new year~ Be prosperous in 2014!”

In the photo, Hyeri kneels next to her niece in a bedroom. She sports a casual grey sweater while Hye Bin gets festive wearing a pastel tone hanbok. Both pose for the camera in an ulzzang fashion, making sure only their best angle is captured.

Meanwhile, Girl’s Day is currently enjoying great popularity with a sexier image for “Something.”

Lee Gyung Shil and 4Minute’s Ga Yoon Look Like Mother and Daughter?

Since Heo Ga Yoon’s debut back in 2009, the singer has constantly heard that she resembled comedian Lee Gyung Shil. Now, the two ladies have appeared side by side as guests on KBS2TV’s “Happy Sunday 3,” and we can’t help but also notice how similar they look.

On January 30, “Happy Together 3” featured guests who looked alike, and 4Minute’s Heo Ga Yoon’s uncanny resemblance with Lee Gyung Shil was highlighted through the singer’s old photos.

When the MCs showed Heo Ga Yoon’s old photos where the singer weighed more than her current look, the singer said, “That’s the photo that I hate the most.” The photo showed Heo Ga Yoon during her “Hot Issues” days, with her hair pulled back, and wearing thick makeup. With the singer’s past photo placed next to comedian Lee Gyung Shil’s photo, it was apparent that the two could pull off the mother and daughter look.

Happy Together

When asked why she agreed to guest on “Happy Together 3,” the singer said, “Usually my agency doesn’t talk to me about where I am scheduled to appear. However, this time since it was a ‘Lookalike Special,’ they carefully talked to me about it.” Although the singer was okay about being compared to the comedian, it seemed agency was careful and sensitive about the subject.

Despite the two looking alike, Lee Gyung Shil and Heo Ga Yoon are both beautiful and talented ladies.
