JYP partners with Chinese company to produce new film

JYP Entertainment announced its plans on producing a Chinese movie.

JYP Pictures, an affiliate of entertainment agency JYP Entertainment, has entered a collaboration with China’s Dongbang Entertainment Group to produce a film together. This will be the first joint production between the two firms.

Officials from both companies, including CEOs signed a formal contract at the office of Dongbang Group in China on October 31. JYP Pictures will provide expertise in the production and making of the film, with Dongbang Group investing financially in the production.

JYP Pictures President Pyo Jong Rok stated, “The collaboration with China’s top art company entertainment group, is expected to create meaningful interaction between the two countries. We hope that this is a starting point for strategic involvement in various business not only in films but also in management, concert production, and more.”

‘Shinhwa Broadcast’ to be streamed live online

In celebration of the premiere of its second season, Shinhwa’s very own variety program ‘Shinhwa Broadcast’ will be streamed live online.

On November 3 at 11PM KST, the second season of ‘Shinhwa Broadcast’ starring Shinhwa members is set to return not only to television screen but also on Korean portal website Naver’s video service TV Cast.

This is the second time that jTBC will stream a program through a portal website since their primetime news show ‘News 9’.

The Shinhwa members will be embarking on a special journey, where they will relate stories of people they meet on their journey. For the first episode, the members visited a shelter for abandoned dogs.

IU looks pretty even as ordinary girl in ‘Pretty Boy’

IU has showcased her extraordinary beauty even as an ordinary girl in the latest teaser stills for the upcoming KBS 2TV Wed-Thu drama ‘PrettyBoy’.

The singer-actress caught eyes with her short hair and unique fashion sense on her first filming which began officially on October 28th. She plays the role of an ordinary girl named Kim Bo Tong, who has a crush on pretty boy Dokgo Ma Te (Jang Geun Suk) for 10 years.

For her role, IU cut her short, and dressed up in a tracksuit outfit, while wearing a flower hand band on her neck. She also drew attention by carrying shopping bag as if it’s her hand bag.

‘Pretty Boy’ is adapted from a comic book series of the same name written by Chon Kye Young. It is about a good looking man named Dokgo Ma Te who goes around seducing the top 1% successful women in the country.

The drama will begin its broadcast from November 20th.

EXO to star in own variety show ‘EXO’s Showtime’

EXO is set to return with their very own variety program this November.

MBC Everyone announced on October 31, “Popular group EXO will be filming their own variety program ‘EXO’s Showtime’.” MBC also opened an official website for the upcoming show, where the viewers can send in questions for the members.

The EXO members will answer the questions in the show as they reveal for the first time the never-before-seen real lives of the members.

‘EXO’s Showtime’ is set to air by the end of November.

Various celebrities have showed their support for FIESTAR’s anticipated comeback.

On November 1, the same date of FIESTAR’s comeback, Loen Entertainment uploaded a video featuring messages of support from various celebrities. Included in the video were IU, Clara, comedians Park Ji Sun and Shin Bora as well as actors Jo Han Sun, Kim Suk Hon and many more.

Meanwhile, FIESTAR has just released their third single album ‘Curious’ featuring the title song “I Don’t Know”, which was produced by hitmaker Shinsadong Tiger.

Woollim Entertainment’s new female singer, JIN, received a message of support from her senior artists.

On November 1, Woollim Entertainment released new video on official Youtube channel. The video showed INFINITE’s Dongwoo and Sungjong, EXO’s Xiumin and actress Kim Yoo Jung cheering on the singer on her upcoming debut with ‘Gone’.

Xiumin and Kim Yoo Jung will appear as a couple in the music video for ‘Gone’ which will be officially released on November 8th.

B2ST ranks high on the Oricon Chart

B2ST has made a promising debut on the Oricon chart with latest single.

According to latest Oricon’s ranking, B2ST’s limited edition Japanese album, ‘Hard to Love, How to Love’ ranked number five on the Daily Album Chart.

The new album is the Japanese edition of the group’s second Korean studio album of the same name which was released in July. It includes a total of nine tracks including the Japanese version of “Shadow”.

Meanwhile, B2ST will be kick off its Japan concert tour starting on January 14, 2014 at the Chiba, Ichihara City.

Kim Hyun Joong to leave ‘Barefoot Friends’

Kim Hyun Joong has announced his departure from the variety program ‘Barefoot Friends’.

On October 31, KeyEast announced, “Due to scheduling conflicts, Kim Hyun Joong will leave ‘Barefooted Friends’. Due to scheduling conflicts with filming for his drama, it will be difficult for him to continue. He recently finished his last filming for the show.”

Kim Hyun Joong will be filming for the new KBS 2TV drama ‘Generation of Youth’ and he will leave for China this November. After discussing the matter with the variety show’s production team, it was decided that he would drop out.

Meanwhile, it is also rumoured that Yoon Shi Yoon and UEE are also looking to leave ‘Barefooted Friends’, in order to concentrate on filming for their respective new dramas.

2AM’s Seulong cast in new SNS drama ‘Infinite Power’

2AM’s Seulong will be coming up with a new drama.

On October 30th, Seulong’s management agency announced that the idol will be casting in new SNS drama titled, ‘Infinite Power’, which will premiere on Samsung Group’s official YouTube channel on November 12th.

‘Infinite Power’ is based on a Web cartoon of the same title by Ju Ho Min, and it will be produced by Apollo Pictures, which produced SBS Drama ‘Sign’ in the past.

In the drama, Seulong will play an unemployed young man named Jang Seon Jae. Dal Shabet’s Woohee, Ahn Na Sang and Kim Seul Gi are also in the drama.

JYJ’s Jaejoong reveals concert rehearsal photos with Gummy

Getting ready for his upcoming tour, JYJ’s Jaejoong revealed photos of himself during rehearsal with his new labelmate, Gummy.

On October 31, C-JeS Entertainment stated, “Jaejoong is currently rehearsing earnestly for his upcoming first album Asia concert tour. He also started practicing with one of the guest singers yesterday.”

The agency added, “Gummy, who recently became part of our family, will be performing at the concert as a guest singer. Many other senior and junior singers will also participate, and put on a great stage with Jaejoong.”

Meanwhile, Jaejoong will kick off his Asia tour with a live band in COEX, Seoul on November 2 and 3.

SS501’s Heo Young Saeng enlists in the army

SS501’s Heo Young Saeng bids goodbye to his fans as he enlists today for his two-year mandatory military service.

On October 31 at 2PM KST, Heo Young Saeng entered the Nonsan Training Center in Chungnam province. He will receive four weeks of basic training before serving for the next 21 months as an active-duty soldier.

Heo Young Saeng is the second SS501 member to enlist, after Kim Kyu Jong in July 2012. Prior to his enlistment, he released a special album as well as held a solo farewell concert at AX Hall on October 26th which saw the reunion of all SS501 members.

Rapper San E will be releasing a new mini album next month.

According to Brand New Music, San E has finished recording the tracks for his first mini album under Brand New Music. Prior to his comeback, the rapper plans on pre-releasing a single “Where Did You Sleep” on November 6th.

San E moved to new home Brand New Music this July and broke his two-year hiatus by releasing one of the biggest hit tunes this year, “Story of Someone I Know”, last August.

Jaejoong’s “Just Another Girl” tops iTunes charts in 9 countries

JYJ’s Jaejoong is enjoying great success overseas with his new solo album.

On October 29th, Jaejoong released his solo full album ‘WWW: Who, When, Why’, and the album’s title track “Just Another Girl” soared up to No.1 position in iTunes chart in nine countries including Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Barbados, Indonesia and HongKong.

In addition, the album also topped the Rock Album Charts in aforementioned countries as well as ranked #8 in Finland, #11 in Mexico, #9 in Israel. It also continues to climb the ranks in other countries in Europe and Latin America.

Jaejoong will embark on an Asia tour ‘2013 Kim Jaejoong 1st Album Asia Tour Concert’ starting on November 2-3 at Coex, Seoul, then hit Japan’s Yokohama Stadium on November 15-16.

IU will be making an appearance on jTBC’s second season of ‘Hidden Singer’.

A representative of the show stated, “IU will be filming for ‘Hidden Singer 2’ early November. We prepared talented impersonation singers for IU's appearance so look forward to this episode.”

‘Hidden Singer 2’ features veteran singers and impersonators in competitive sing-offs from behind a curtain, leaving judges to guess who is the real star and who is faking it. IU will become the youngest singer to participate in the show.

Trouble Maker will be releasing another version of music video for title track “Now”.

According to a representative on October 30th, Trouble Maker is currently preparing another version of their “Now” music video. While the first music video was based on musical ‘Bonnie and Clyde’, the new version will have an upgraded concept in terms of sexiness and story line.

The new music video will feature never-before-seen footage, as well as more intimate scenes and skinships, giving a more dramatic vibe to the original one. The MV will be revealed in conjunction with the upcoming release of 19+ version of their album.

Meanwhile, despite the plagiarism controversy, the hot music video for “Now” has been receiving explosive reactions from local and international fans, racking up over five million views on Youtube since its release on October 28.

KARA’s Goo Hara appointed as blood donation ambassador

KARA’s Goo Hara was recently appointed as the blood donation ambassador for the Hanmaum Blood Bank, which is affiliated with the Korean Industrial Health Association.

On October 31, Goo Hara attended the appointment ceremony that took place at the blood donation cafe in Myeongdong, Seoul. Besides the appointment ceremony, she also held an autograph session event for those who donated blood in front of the blood donation cafe.

Goo Hara said, “I have always been interested in doing volunteer work. I’m really happy to be involved in such a meaningful cause.”

Joo Won in discussion for new movie ‘Fashion King’

Currently busy with his musical and overseas schedules, actor Joo Won might be adding another big screen project to his list as he is currently in talks for upcoming movie tentatively titled ‘Fashion King’.

According to Joo Won’s agency Sim Entertainment, “Joo Won has not signed yet but he’s positively reviewing the movie ‘Fashion King’. The decision will be made by the end of October or early November.”

‘Fashion King’ is based on the popular web-cartoon of the same name. It portrays the story of a male student named Woo Gi Myung who becomes interested in fashion and tries to get along with the prettiest girl of his class.

Ailee holds successful debut showcase in Japan

To celebrate her debut, Ailee held a showcase in Tokyo’s Shibuya O-East Japan’s Shibuya ahead of her new album ‘Heaven’ release in the country.

The showcase opened to the cheers of 1,300 fans who had been selected by lottery. For about an hour, Ailee performed songs like “Heaven”, “Show You”, “Umbrella”, “If I Ain’t Got You” and others. For an encore, she sang “Heaven” in Japanese amidst cheers by Japanese fans.

Her Japanese agency, Good Day Entertainment, said, “We had planned for around 1,000 people at the showcase, there were so many fans and experts who couldn’t get in. The interest in Ailee among Japanese fans have exceeded our expectations.”

After the showcase, Ailee then spent the next few days recording television and radio shows as well as interviews. Also, commemorative events of the single release will be held in Fukuoka, Sapporo, Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Ailee will release her Japanese debut single ‘Heaven’ on November 6th.
