CNBLUE and Big Bang’s Daesung rank high on Oricon chart

CNBLUE and Big Bang’s Daesung have made a pleasant debut on Japan’s Oricon chart.

According to Oricon’s latest rankings, CNBLUE’s sixth Japanese single “Lady”, which was released on July 31, debuted #2 on Oricon’s Daily Singles chart. Daesung’s Japanese solo debut single “I Love You” grabbed the fifth position on the same chart.

“Lady” which was co-produced by Park Hyun Woo and member Jung Yonghwa, also ranked number one on Japan’s HMV pre-order chart. The song will also be listed in their second Japan album, to be released on August 28.

On the other hand, Daesung’s “I Love You” is a remake of a song by Ozaki Yutaka, which well loved in Japan and Korea.

SISTAR’s Soyu is frugal due to her tough childhood

SISTAR’s Soyu appears to be the most frugal member of the group, depositing half of her earnings in her savings.

On a recently episode of SBS ‘Incarnation’, SISTAR’s Soyu and Hyorin appeared as guests alongside actor Jung Woong In and actress Lee Yoo Bi. During the show, Soyu talked about the rumors of being the ‘queen of savings’ and said, “If I had $1,000 I would take out $500 and put it away into savings. Although I may not be a VIP bank customer, I do save a lot.”

She said she adopted the saving habit after going through difficult times financially during her childhood. Soyu explained, “I worked various part time jobs during my middle school days. I made my own allowance and spent it. I even got a hairdresser license in 2nd year of middle school. I think I did almost everything except for working at a gas station.”

Song Joong Ki to enlist this August

Actor Song Joong Ki is entering the military later this month to fulfill the 2-year mandatory service.

On August 1, Song Joong Ki officially announced, “ I received the enlistment notice from the Military Manpower Administration and decided to enter army on August 27. I’m planning to enter the military after wrapping up the rest of my activities well. I sincerely thank everyone who has supported and loved me, and I’m apologetic that I cannot give my farewell greeting to all individually.”

He added, “I will return after carrying out my military duties for 2 years. After I come back, I’ll greet you all with great projects, so until then, please be healthy and well.”

Song Joong Ki will enter the 102th drafts on August 27 for several weeks of basic training and then serve as an active-duty soldier for about two years.

ZE:A releases Kevin’s teaser + to pre-release “Step by Step” today

ZE:A will be reuniting as nine once again with a new album and they just unveiled another teaser image for “Ghost of the Wind” comeback featuring member Kevin.

The members’ individual cuts has been revealed one by one every day, and unlike the other teasers that contained lyrics from the song “Ghost of the Wind”, Kevin’s teaser contains the title of the track, “Step by Step”.

“Step by Step” is said to be jointly composed by Kevin, who also participated in writing the lyrics. The song will be pre-released later at noon KST before ZE:A’s official comeback on August 9th.

According to C-Jes Entertainment, Kim Junsu's Seoul Concert will be held at Coex D Hall for two days from August 3rd to 4th and in Busan from August 10th-11th. They also revealed that Junsu will be working with Jeri Slaughter, a globally renowned choreographer as he immediately went to Korea after knowing about the upcoming concerts.

His concerts in Seoul and Busan will be special as he will be performing with America′s best dance team. Jeri Slaughter, who worked with Jennifer Lopez, Usher and Ciara will be standing on the same stage as Junsu and will perform together.

Girl group KARA is confirmed to have their comeback in Japan as they will be releasing new album titled "Fantastic Girls" on the 28th of August. The album is said to have a total of 10 tracks including "Bye Bye Happy Days!" and "Thank You Summer Love".

After the much successful comeback with “Wolf”, EXO is gearing up to release repackaged album and begin a follow-up promotions. Ahead of the official release, the group unveiled the full music video for next title song, “Growl”.

Psy finished writing three songs for his new album

K-Pop sensation Psy is hard at work on the preparation for his upcoming album, set for release this September.

On July 30, Psy mentioned about his album on his Twitter saying, “Already done with 3 songs and they are kinda nice!!”

Psy is currently staying in Los Angeles and working on his upcoming album set for a release in September. A representative revealed that he is working with songwriter Yoo Gun Hyung but the concept of the album and genre of the songs are yet to be revealed.

According to the Oricon, FT Island’s 11th Japanese single, “Theory of Happiness”, which was released on July 24th, grabbed the top spot on the Oricon Singles Chart. Also, the single has been topping in a great number of different music charts in Japan ahead of its official release.

4minute’s Jihyun, ICON’s No Min Woo and rapper-MC Kim Jin Pyo will be making a cameo appearance in the upcoming finale of music drama, ‘Monstar’.

A representative from the tvN-Mnet series revealed that Jihyun, No Min Woo and Kim Jin Pyo will be the last cameos in the finale episode which will air on August 2 after its two and a half months run.

Kim Jin Pyo will be playing the MC of the in-school music battle show while No Min Woo and Jihyun’s roles have not been unveiled yet as they have important roles in the finale.

Psy’s “Gentleman” music video has racked up a whopping 500 million YouTube views in just 110 days after its release in April.

“Gentleman” has become the 10th most-watched video on YouTube while Psy’s mega-hit track “Gangnam Style” maintained its place as the most-watched video ever with more than 1.7 billion views.

Also, “Gentleman” music video became the second fastest video to crack the 500 million mark on the world’s largest video-streaming website after Psy’s “Gangnam Style” which took 98 days.

Kim Hyun Joong changes title song because of Psy

Kim Hyun Joong goes for a dive into the water in his latest pictorial for the August edition of fashion magazine, ‘High Cut’.

In his new summer fashion photoshoot, Kim Hyun Joong showed off his tight and fit body under the water. Having already showcased his diving skills through his variety show ‘Barefoot friends’, the singer managed to display his charms once again under the water.

In an interview with the magazine, Kim Hyun Joong revealed that he changed his original title song because of Psy. He said that his title track was supposed to be “Gentleman” and explained, “It was written a year ago and I wanted it to be my title song for my new album. But Psy sunbaenim came out with ‘Gentleman’ first, so I had to change it.”

Wheesung sentenced to 3 days in military jail just a week before discharge

Singer Wheesung, who is currently serving in the military, has been sentenced to three days in military jail just a week ahead of his discharge.

According to Wheesung’s legal representative, the singer has been sentenced to three days in military prison for using his mobile phone without permission. Therefore, his discharge date of August 6 has been pushed back to August 9.

Wheesung received a reduced sentence in light of the fact that he used his cell phone not at the training facility but at the hospital while receiving treatment for a herniated disc and hair loss. He used the cell phone to talk to personnel that would prove his innocence regarding charges of illegal use of propofol.

Jang Geun Suk to host ‘Zikzin Festival’ in Japan

Actor Jang Geun Suk will hold his ‘Zikzin Festival’ in Japan this August.

According to his agency Tree J Company, Jang Geun Suk will hold the ‘Zikzin Festival’ to promote his exclusive brand ‘Zikzin’ through an expo to be held from August 2-4 in Osaka and August 24-25 in Tokyo.

The expo will feature the performances of his project group Team-H, and is expected to become a small theme park, offering other facilities such as ‘Zikzin Town’ and ‘Zikzin Street’ as well as a ‘Zikzin Shop’, food courts, post office, photo studio and costume shop.

In addition, ‘Zikzin Festival’ will be streamed live on August 4th at 57 different movie theaters in Japan, and approximately 15,000 fans will be able to share the heat of the festival.

Singer and actor Seo In Guk has promised the viewers to have a duet performance with So Ji Sub if their upcoming drama ‘Sun of the Lord’ receives over a 25% viewer ratings.

At a press conference for upcoming SBS drama ‘Sun of the Lord’ held at the Seoul SBS Mokdong Office on July 30, Seo In Guk was asked what he would do if the drama ratings surpassed 25%. He replied, “We’ll deliver a great performance where I’ll sing and So Ji Sub will rap.”

He jokingly added, “If that happens, Gong Hyo Jin and Kim Yuri will star in the music video to our song.”

We actually never planned on holding a big wedding. We just planned to have a meal with our parents and family members that will serve as the meeting between our families.”

BoA releases “Action” as theme song for Gwangju Design Biennale

K-pop queen BoA has just released a new single for the official theme song of the upcoming Gwangju Design Biennale.

Titled “Action”, the song was personally composed by BoA herself, and it will reflect South Korean design event’s accessibility and the singer’s clear vocals in an easy-listening style. This is also the first time the biennale will have an official song.
