K-Pop Destinations: An Eat Your Kimchi Cafe

Martina and Simon of "Eat Your Kimchi"

If you are a fan of "Eat Your Kimchi," here's some interesting news. Simon and Martina are about to open their own coffee shop and they have already chosen a location in the Hongdae neighborhood of Seoul. It's the same neighborhood where they have their recording studio. It's also a great neighborhood for music lovers as there are plenty of places to hear indie music.

They decided to open a coffee shop because they are passionate about coffee and they wanted a place to meet their fans who visit Korea.

"Many of you have heard us talking about our dream to open up our own coffee shop in the future," the couple wrote on their blog at eatyourkimchi.com. "But that idea was in the distant future for us. We thought that we'd do that when we're older, in our late 50s, and not sprightly enough to make awkward jokes on the Internet. It was a pipe dream, and so we're totally amazed that this is happening decades before our plan."

The couple is teaming up with Hyunwoo and the rest of the team at TalkToMeInKorean.com. They have spoken to larger companies but they really liked the TalkToMeInKorean.com crew.

Fans often want to visit the EatYourKimchi Nasty Studio but it's a difficult location to stop by. The coffee house will give fans an alternate place to visit. The couple is planning lots of events at the café. And Martina plans to bake muffins, cookies, and cupcakes.

The vloggers will still shoot videos at the studio and promise that the café is just another way to relate to their fans and it's not going to be a substitute for any of their existing activities.

Simon and Martina hope to open the café this year. As Martina is a big fan of "Coffee Prince," it will be fun to see whether the drama inspires the design choices. Visit eatyourkimchi.com for updates.
