March 14th is White Day, and boy group 100% spent the day making sweet desserts. They didn't just make simple candy or cookies. With food columnist Park Joon Woo helping them out, the group made delicious, unique desserts for the sweet holiday. Park Joon Woo taught the boy group how to make champagne jelly and wine soaked pear.

"I was thinking about a dessert that would be fun to make and not so overdone. So I came up with these two menus. I wanted to make something that 100% members and other people of the same age can easily learn. For the Champaign you just have to dissolve the gelatin and melt it together. For the bear, you just have to cut the pear in a pretty way and boil it. Easy." (Park Joon Woo)
The members were split into two groups to make the desserts. The 3 members in the vocal group made the champagne jelly, the 2 members in the rapper group made the pear.
The very first step wasn't easy. They had to open the champagne. Park Joon Woo silently opened the champagne as the members looked on. They seemed impressed.
Next they had to pour the champagne into the pot and boil it. They used a scale to measure out 100 grams of sugar. The members marveled in awe at the 100 grams and carefully poured the sugar into the champagne and stirred the mixture with a ladle.
Then they had to cut the lemon. Park Joon Woo took the lemon in his hand and began to roll it on the cutting board. The members looked puzzled. Park Joon Woo explained, "You have to agitate it like this so you can get the most juice out of the lemon," and continued rolling the lemon for a while. They then squeezed a whole lemon into the champagne. Next was the gelatin.
"When do we put in the gelatin?" (Jonghwan)
"If you want to leave a lot of alcohol, then put it in right now. If you want to get rid of the alcohol, then you should put it in after it's boiled for a while." (Park Joon Woo)
The members inserted the gelatin right away. The gelatin needs to be dissolved in cold water. It really doesn't smell very good, but the members must have been impressed with the gelatin, because they were eager to take it back to their place. A total of 8 packets were used for this particular dessert.
"Is it all dissolved? Then just turn off the stove and let it cool. It would be pretty if you added raspberries, peach slices, or grapes. We'll be putting in raspberry and mint." (Park Joon Woo)
"It tastes like apple peel and honey!" (Hyukjin)
The members were very excited. They poured the champagne in the wine glass, made decorations, and placed them in the refrigerator. It just takes one hour to make this simple dessert.
And then it was time for the 2nd dessert. The first step here is difficult as well. The members had to cut the pear in a pretty shape. They took a potato peeler to the pear and started peeling the fruit.
"I've never peeled a pear before. It's easier than I expected." (Chanyong)
Park Joon Woo praised them for doing a good job for their first attempt. However, as the members kept handling the fruit and cutting away big chunks, the pear became noticeably smaller. They then spooned out the pear in a round shape.
"If you cut it into a pretty shape, it can be appealing in a very sexy way. You can make the shape with an ice cream scoop or knife, but it won't be pretty. Chanyong, you did it so well!" (Park Joon Woo)
Park Joon Woo then opened the wine bottle and smelled the cork. He said, "If there's a fragrant smell from the cork, it means the wine hasn't spoiled. If the smell isn't good, then the wine has spoiled." He then poured one whole bottle into a pot, and added 150 grams of sugar. The members began to stir the wine.
Park Joon Woo then took out vanilla bean. It looked like a dark stick.
"I thought it was a squid leg!" (Changbum)
They then used the knife to pick out the beans and boiled it in the wine along with the cut pear pieces. Then they reduced the wine. Lastly, they took out the pear, decorated it, and placed some ice cream next to it. The ice cream had to first be shaped with utensils before it was used for decoration. Although it wasn't nearly as pretty as the chef's creation, it was the group's efforts that created this wonderful dessert.
"It's really fun. You can taste alcohol and some sweetness. And you all look so cool when you cook, probably because you are idols." (Park Joon Woo)
The group posed with these 2 just-created fantastic desserts and their teacher after they cleaned up the studio. It was a heartwarming White Day for 100%, wouldn't you say?
