As 2AM's Jo Kwon prepares for the role of Adam in the musical "Priscilla," the singer has received negative comments regarding the promotional photos posted to his Instagram.
"Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" is a musical recounting the stories of two drag queens and a transgendered woman which premiered in Australia in 2006. Reportedly, Jo Kwon will be playing the role of Adam, a gay drag queen and one of the central characters.

"I studied and prepared hard to be this character," said Jo Kwon. "Singers send feelings through their songs, but being a musical actor is a lot different and dramatic. You have to be really into the character, and I fall into my character every day."
Sadly, after Jo Kwon posted a series of promotional photos as the character to his Instagram account, the singer received negative and homophobic comments regarding the images.
"OK, 'Priscilla' is a sensational musical and as you all know I am playing a role that happens to be a gay male," responded Jo Kwon on Instagram.
"It saddens me to see the ignorance in some of the comments that closed minded people left on my personal page but I'm very much committed and in love with this role and proud to be a part of this amazing project! See you guys at the show!"
Since the controversy arose, numerous supporters have also stepped up to defend Jo Kwon and the musical.
"It's an amazing role that you're playing," commented Alyssa on Jo Kwon's Instagram. "You have full support."
"Just do you Jo Kwon," concurred MarissaErvin on June 24. "You have my support and the support of tons of other people. We love you and will continue to love you no matter what."
"Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" opens at the LG Art Center on July 8 in Seoul, South Korea.
