One of the most popular old-school K-Pop club bangers is “Run to You” from DJ DOC.
The song, which features the catchy English refrain “bounce with me,” is often played in the background on variety programs. Artists including Big Bang have also covered the track, which is undoubtedly one of the most dance friendly songs of 2000.
DJ DOC debuted as a hip hop quartet in 1994. Member Park Jung Hwan left from the group prior to the debut of their first album, making DJ DOC a trio. The three members of DJ DOC were previously employed as club deejays, which helped the group recognize which songs clubgoers wanted to dance to.
After six years in the industry, DJ DOC released the album “The Life…DOC Blues 5%.” The standout track from what is known as the 5% album was “Run to You.”
At the time of its release, “Run to You” could be heard throughout Korea, mainly in clubs and bars.
The popularity of the track was recognized with a nomination for DJ DOC as Best Group for the 2000 Mnet Asian Music Awards. While DJ DOC did not win Best Group, they did receive an award for Best Hip Hop Performance for their delivery of “DOC Blues.”
DJ DOC released an album in 2010 and announced earlier in 2014 that the group was in the process of working on their comeback.
